In 2020 Kenya's Association of Manufactures, with support from DI and the Danish Plastics Federation, created the Producer Responsibility Organization KEPRO.

KEPRO collects fees from plastic manufacturers and distributes them to recycling companies like Mr Green, who uses the funds to pay waste collectors.

By giving value to waste, KEPRO and its members have created a circular economy that reduces pollution and generates decent jobs.

Since its launch, KEPRO has ensured that 9,000 tons of plastic have been recycled. The association plans to increase that amount by 20% each quarter, until 30% of the country's plastic waste is recycled.
